This is a project from 2010
Around 54 kilo, or 120 lb, food are estimated to be wasted every year by the regular swedish citizen. This waste put a drain not only to the houshold finances but to the overall enviroment. This wasted food also makes a carbon footprint of 1,9 milion ton – equivalent of 700 000 petrolcars.
There is a group of people ”the Freegans” that, not because of financial or socialproblems, but for political ideology reasons, are using this unneccessary waste for their own gain. A ”Freegan” has independent choose to stand outside the capitalist society, and use our waste, the result of our cosumtion.
Plainly – it´s a radical way of recycling.
Sweden is leading in number of cookbook per citizen. Around one cookbook is published every day. Still we do less actual cooking and the cookbooks seems to be the substitute.
This project was launched in 2007 and sadly very little has changed scince.
